The Broadway Museum has recently launched an exciting new special exhibition that pays homage to the longest-running American musical on Broadway, CHICAGO. Titled “ALL THAT JAZZ: The Legacy of CHICAGO the Musical,” this captivating retrospective showcases CHICAGO’s remarkable 26-year journey on Broadway, focusing on its iconic production photography and advertising campaigns throughout the years. Running until September 10, 2023, this exhibition is a must-see for theater enthusiasts and anyone intrigued by the magic of Broadway.
The exhibition, created exclusively for the Broadway Museum, grants guests an up-close encounter with artifacts, dazzling costumes worn by prominent CHICAGO cast members, and a unique photo activation that allows visitors to immerse themselves in the world of the show.
Access to the “ALL THAT JAZZ” exhibition is included with any admission ticket to the Broadway Museum, which can be purchased online at https://www.themuseumofbroadway.com/tickets.
Located in the heart of Times Square, New York City, at 145 W. 45th St., the Broadway Museum is the first permanent museum devoted to the historical history and legendary art of Broadway musicals and plays, as well as the talented individuals who bring them to life. Launched in November of the previous year, the museum offers an immersive and interactive theatrical experience that takes guests on a visual journey through the rich history of Broadway. The exhibits showcase stunning costumes, props, rare photos, videos, and more, highlighting groundbreaking moments and pivotal shows that have left a lasting impact on Broadway’s landscape.
As part of the experience, visitors explore over 500 productions from the 1700s to the present day, including iconic shows like The Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story, Rent, Company, Cabaret, and many others. The museum’s “How a Broadway Show Was Made” exhibit, designed by David Rockwell, pays tribute to the talented professionals both on and off the stage who bring Broadway productions to life each night.
CHICAGO, which opened in 1996, holds the title of the longest-running show currently on Broadway, boasting over 10,000 performances to date. The musical’s influence extends far beyond the New York theater district, as it has been staged in 38 countries, across more than 525 cities, and performed in thirteen different languages worldwide.
Tickets for the Broadway Museum and the “ALL THAT JAZZ” exhibition can be purchased online at https://www.themuseumofbroadway.com/tickets.
