Carnival Jubilee Celebrates Texas Pride as it Floats Out at Meyer Werft Shipyard

Carnival Cruise Line’s highly anticipated new ship, Carnival Jubilee, achieved a significant milestone as it gracefully floated out of the covered building dock at Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany, proudly unveiling a special feature of its design – a prominent Texas star displayed on its bow.

Symbolizing Carnival’s deep commitment to the Port of Galveston, the Texas star holds significance as the cruise line’s way of honoring its longstanding relationship with the local community. Being the first cruise line to sail year-round from Galveston, Carnival’s latest addition, Carnival Jubilee, represents a major investment aimed at supporting the region’s thriving economy while delivering unparalleled experiences for its guests. Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line, expressed her excitement about the ship’s Texas pride, with Carnival Jubilee set to debut later this year.

The momentous occasion drew hundreds of enthusiastic spectators at the shipyard, eager to witness the world’s first glimpse of the newest Carnival ship. As a delightful surprise, guests were treated to a Texas-themed tailgate-style party, complete with mouthwatering snacks and beverages provided by Carnival’s partner, PepsiCo, adding a festive atmosphere to the event.

Having successfully floated out, Carnival Jubilee now progresses to the next phase of construction, situated alongside the shipyard’s outfitting pier. As part of the ship’s testing phase, it will briefly cast off from the pier over the weekend to undergo various assessments of its bow thrusters and stabilizers. Sea trials are scheduled for November, bringing the ship closer to her much-anticipated maiden voyage.

Carnival Jubilee belongs to the revolutionary Excel-class, boasting remarkable features that have already captivated guests aboard her sister ships, Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration. Among the highlights, guests will experience the next iteration of the first roller coaster at sea, BOLT: The Ultimate Seacoaster. Additionally, six engaging zones, two of which are exclusive to Carnival Jubilee, will be creatively themed to celebrate the ocean, providing a plethora of dining, beverage, and entertainment options.

Commencing her year-round voyages in late December, Carnival Jubilee will embark on captivating Western Caribbean itineraries, showcasing the ultimate fusion of comfort and excitement. It’s important to note that this ship, like her sisters, shares a name with a classic Carnival vessel. The first Carnival Jubilee sailed from Galveston back in 2002. Now, this new iteration is four times larger than its predecessor, promising four times the fun and joy for Carnival guests to relish.
