Explore the Art, Chocolate, and Culinary Delights at QT Queenstown

QT Queenstown, the renowned designer hotel situated along the picturesque shores of Lake Wakatipu on New Zealand’s South Island, is proud to introduce three exciting new initiatives to enhance guests’ experiences: Gallery 6, an art gallery showcasing the works of local New Zealand artists; the exclusive QT-branded Ember Chocolate Bar in partnership with ethical chocolate maker OCHO; and the reimagined Lil Red restaurant.

Gallery 6 at QT Queenstown

Located on the sixth floor of the hotel, Gallery 6 spans 40 feet and serves as a platform for local New Zealand artists to display their creations. The inaugural exhibition, “Double Up,” running until March 2024, spotlights the artistry of Alexandra Weston. She has crafted 16 original pieces on plexiglass panels exclusively for this show. Her series draws inspiration from various traditions and celebrations, both ancient and modern, and explores the concept of balance, with each piece named after renowned festivals from around the world.

QT Ember Chocolate Bar

QT Queenstown has joined forces with ethical chocolate producer OCHO, based in Dunedin, to craft a unique QT Queenstown chocolate bar called Ember. This delightful bar is made from milk chocolate and boasts delightful notes of cinnamon, vanilla, and smoked caramel, capturing the flavors and aromas of Queenstown. Inspired by the ambiance of open-air fireplaces, the spices of mulled wine, and the comforting warmth of vanilla, Ember pays tribute to the snow-covered peaks that define New Zealand’s winter playground. The luxurious bar comes wrapped in a recyclable paper wrapper featuring Alexandra Weston’s artwork “Pöttyök 115,” a playful nod to the town’s adventurous spirit. The exclusive Ember chocolate bar can be purchased only at the hotel’s lobby.

Lil Red Returns to QT Queenstown

Situated on the sixth floor of QT Queenstown, Lil Red restaurant has made a triumphant return due to popular demand. Initially introduced in 2021, the 40-seat restaurant is led by Executive Chef Ryan Henley. Henley’s culinary philosophy combines responsibly sourced, local New Zealand ingredients with traditional Japanese techniques. With a strong commitment to sustainability, Henley meticulously selects the finest ingredients from local farmers, fishermen, and artisans who share his environmental values.

The menu at Lil Red, designed for sharing, features the best produce, seafood, and meats from New Zealand’s South Island, with seasonal changes to reflect the region’s offerings. Sample ingredients include Black Origin Wagyu beef from Christchurch, seafood from Gravity Fishing in Stewart Island, Canterbury Whiteheart Kourobuta pork, and eggs and lamb from Arrowtown’s Royalburn Station. To top it off, QT Queenstown’s very own rooftop honey from Tiaki Bees’ hives makes a delightful appearance on the menu.
